As soon as Evergreen Insurance started growing, and was consistently hiring new employees, it was time to launch ‘The Evergreen Inside’.
So what is The Evergreen Inside?
Studies show that the number 1 reason why people leave their jobs is because they feel under-appreciated.
In early 2013 we originated our ‘Employee Focus Program’. The program consists of numerous means of ‘validating’ and ‘appreciating’ our employees. An employee-focused boss, creates customer-focused employees! We know that free pizza and free car washes are great, but even more importantly, people need to be listened to, and be able to express their feeling, thoughts and ideas.
And that’s how ‘The Evergreen Inside’ was born.
The Evergreen Inside is an internal blog, which gives all of our employees a platform to share their ideas, concerns and challenges. And everybody can listen and help each other.
But it doesn’t end there. ‘The Evergreen Inside’ also has sections for product and sales training, where not only management can post training material, but each and every employee can share new ideas and information they learnt.
We also have a ‘Recommend a Book’ section, where anyone can recommend a book – even not work related – and that book is immediately added to The Evergreen Library.
Another great feature to keep the work exciting, there is a section called ‘The Extra Mile!’ where employees and managers can show appreciation for others for going the extra mile!
But don’t think you can get away with just a blog, you have to do it and mean it for real. You have to constantly talk, and even more important listen, to your people. At Evergreen, every manager has weekly, one on one meetings with their staff, and even takes them out to lunch on regular basis.
I encourage you to implement this in your business and you will see great results.
